Salman Abdul Quayyum

Born in Sylhet, Salman Abdul Quayyum comes from a distinguished family. His father the late Abdul Mannan was a District and Sessions Judge in the ’50s. His grandfather Abdul Hamid was a renowned legal practitioner of his time in Comilla. Shamsul Ulama Maulana Safiullah ®, the Saint of Kolkata, was his maternal grandfather. Maulana Safiullah (r) was a renowned teacher of Islam at the Kolkata Aliya Madrasha and was fondly known to his spiritual disciples asDadaji. Salman Abdul Quayyum got his Masters degree in Economic Policy and Planning, and MBA from Northeastern University, Boston, USA. He taught Economics and Statistics in the same University. A former Vice-President of a billion dollar information technology consulting company, he is currently working as a Project Director for a Local government in USA. In the early 70’s Salman Abdul Quayyum was inspired by his maternal uncle Fakhrul Mohaddesin Maulana Abdul Ghafoor (r), a great Islamic scholar and spiritual master of his time, to devote to the learning of Islam and spiritual discipline.
